Couples  Therapy

Couples therapy is an opportunity for clients to become aware of how they are bringing conflict into their relationships and what they can do to improve their relationship.

The main goal in treatment is to help couples reconnect, reawaken, improve their relationship, and even safe it.

Through treatment, mental health professionals assist couples in achieving the following skills:

  • Establishing personal and partnership goals

  • Identifying mechanisms of defense such as excuses, feeling stuck, endless whining, taking the victim role, worrying, addictions, suffering, etc.

  • Healing from shame

  • Achieving radical acceptance

  • Attaining a reasonable and realistic mind

  • Preventing complacency and aiming to improve reality

  • Gaining insight into the childhood origins of their problematic habits

  • Learning mindfulness techniques

  • Understanding personal and partners needs

  • Identifying the validity of personal expectations

  • Choosing beliefs and values consciously

  • Recognizing stuck conflicts

  • Identifying problem-solving skills

  • Distinguishing collaborative and insightful language

  • Learning to establish healthy listening and communication skills

  • Reaching openness rather than defensiveness

  • Pinpointing boundaries and limits

  • Handling differences

  • Gaining knowledge on anger management

  • Learning skills to have a long-lasting relationship and loving partnership
